In 2020 I completely changed my art practice. Content, process, materials, all of it. Content: For several years I focused primarily on the human figure. Now my work incorporates personal photos, memories and imagination to tell the stories of people and places essential to my life.
Process: In my previous work painting and drawing coincided. The use of line played a considerable role in the final piece. Now I employ drawing, in ink or colored pencil, to explore the possibilities of composition and color before the painting begins. Materials: I shifted from acrylics to oils. Because of this, I invest a lot more time in color choices and color mixing.
Change is good! I'm enjoying this era.
